CO 710 - Public Health Communication and Marketing I


This course presents essential theory, methods, and cases in health information. It is intended for public health, health psychology, biomedical writing, health policy, and pharmaceutical and healthcare business graduate students as well as all health professions students. The course covers development of information for various audiences including patients, the public, policy makers, and the mass media. It emphasizes health literacy, cultural competency, and related approaches to make health information clear and appropriate for its intended uses. The course may be taken online for 2 credits or for 3 credits with the addition of a weekly meeting with the instructor.

(Prerequisite: HE 750 or BW 701 or graduate student status or professional student status, or permission of instructor)

Credits: 2 to 3
