PB 794 - Multidiscipline Strategic Management IV

MSM is four one-semester courses scheduled throughout the MBA program. Each semester the students work on integrating a body of work with related issues (e.g., finance, marketing, product development and launch, current issues and trends). This course is not lecture-based but is instead a student-centered-learning course. Students work individually or in teams to construct a hypothetical product or company, evaluate an actual company or product, or run a simulation about a company and product that could compete in today‘s marketplace. The purpose of this course is to integrate what students have learned in all of the MBA program‘s individual classes. Students evaluate their company, including a full description of the healthcare and competitive environments and company product(s), along with related management, financing, and strategic issues. Students will also develop case studies, detailing one or more major strategic issues their company may face and how their company might successfully address these issues. Students defend their case study to a panel of professors and/or outside guest panel. The goal is to understand how companies solve issues by participating in the problem-solving process. This MSM course will focus on integration of accounting and managerial and corporate finance.
