SO 111 - Principles of Sociology

This is an advanced survey of the scientific and philosophical foundations of sociology.  The course will facilitate understanding of social identities, dynamics, and the research used to explore social behavior.  Students will be well prepared for professional school exam content areas on cultural, social, demographic, and economic influences on behavior and well-being.

Prerequisites & Notes
(Note: This is a more challenging version of SO 101 Introduction to Sociology that includes an emphasis on health and health care as well as research-based problem solving using sociological data; students who have taken SO 101 are not eligible to take this course.)

(Special registration restriction: This course is open to all students as a more rigorous alternative to SO 101. Students may not take both SO 101 and SO 111.)
