PT 507 - Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy I

This the first course within a three-course sequence. This course will introduce the student to physical therapy examination and intervention for musculoskeletal dysfunction from disease, disuse, trauma, surgery, and the aging process. The course will use musculoskeletal conditions with primarily inflammatory, degenerative, traumatic, and post-surgical etiologies as the basis for formulating a fundamental musculoskeletal exam and treatment plan. Emphasis is placed on musculoskeletal differential diagnosis, clinical decision-making, and the components of patient/client management, consistent with the International Classification of Functioning, disability and Health (ICF). Management of the patient/client will be related to principles of tissue healing, impairments, and knowledge of pathology and pathomechanics.
